Well that was a year wasn't it? 2024 had multiple shocks and so much bad news that, to protect my own mental health, I decided to only look at headlines for positive news and then switched off. I'm going to continue that pattern for 2025 and focus on new ideas, new positivity to galvanise myself and go into the next twelve months rejuvenated.
What's your new idea? I took the opportunity during the Christmas break to look at my website and to tap into what I wanted to put out into the world. I used thinking sessions with colleagues to clarify my thoughts, to help prioritise my actions, to make a plan for moving forward. Isn't that we as leaders should be doing? We look at what we've done, what we need to do differently to motivate ourselves and those that are in our teams or organisation. I wonder whether you've taken a similar opportunity to gain clarity and let new ideas flourish? It became clear to me as part of these sessions that I wanted to make more of a difference, to not sink into the negativity of 2024 but rise above and in doing so, help others to rise above. So what's the best way to do this? For me, it has to be spreading the word about Time to Think and the Thinking Environment. It's through this methodology that I've managed to really interrogate my actions, my beliefs, my prejudices. (Stop press: We all have prejudices.) I've seen the power of it when others use the methodology and the positive impact it makes on them and others. So I've decluttered. Decluttered the website (I hope you agree!), decluttered my working environment, decluttered my brain. I came across a thank you card from a client as part of my office decluttering. (I love it when the universe steps in.) And the message within reminded me of why I do what I do. "Thank you" they said "for seeing something in me that I could not, and for encouraging me to find it."
