It had been a difficult year for everyone and they were waiting to hear from the guest speaker. He looked around the room and then held up a piece of paper with a large black dot in the centre.
"What do you see?" he asked his audience.
"A black dot," said one. "A large black dot," said another. "I too see a black dot," said a third. And there was a general murmur of agreement in the room.
"Yes, there is a black dot," said the speaker. "But none of you have mentioned the piece of paper. It's that piece of paper that I will be talking about today."
Afterwards Sam came up to the speaker. "That was great, thank you. I wondered though, should we consider more than the dot and paper? Don't they by their very nature create boundaries?"
The speaker smiled and replied, "That's right. It's good to wonder."
